South Park - The Stick of Truth (ps3)

It's been almost 20 years since the first South Park episode aired back in 1997 and the show has definitely made it's mark on popular culture, with it's vulgar, dark humor and satirical style ever since. In South Park nothing is holy and everything is open to criticize and make fun of. The Stick of Truth is no exception. The game itself is set up like a traditional role-playing game that doesn't take itself too seriously and also pays homage to old RPG's. I was first put off by the turned based fighting mechanic but it turned out to be fun and challenging once you got used to it.

Playing The Stick of Truth felt like watching a whole season of South Park and the look of the game was almost indistinguishable from the tv show and featured a wide ranged of the cast familiar from the series.

In the game you play as a new kid who just moved to town. From the beginning you are thrown into a made up fantasy game where our heroes Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Kenny play humans and elves and fight over who holds the powerful stick of truth. This childish adventure ultimately leads you to save South Park from aliens, hobos, nazis and just about everything you can think of.

I think anyone who is a fan of South Park or has a weird, dark sense of humor will like this game and will be very excited for the next game too, The Fractured but Whole, that will be released next year.
