Valiant Hearts - The Great War (PS4)

Valiant Hearts is not your average war game. It's a war game that focuses much less on killing people and much more on helping them. It's a quite simple game with a lot of heart that follows the stories of regular people caught up in the events of the first world war.

Valiant Hearts is a adventure puzzle game inspired by real letters written during WW1. It follows four different characters (and a dog) and their stories during the war. It's a game that focuses on survival, friendship and family and it is a pleasant and welcomed change in the war games genre. It's also a game that teaches a lot about the history of WW1 and how life was for the average people during the time of war.

The puzzles in the game are not particularly hard to solve but provides enough challenge to keep the game interesting. The different characters have different abilities which also mixes up the gameplay and prevents it from becoming too repetitive. What particularly stands out in the game is the music. The music is beautifully composed and helps to set the right atmosphere and mood. The art style is simple yet appealing and the characters (especially the dog) are very sympathetic.

I played Valiant Hearts on PS4 but the game is available on a variety of platforms including iOS and Android. I bought it during a sale on the PS store for 4.99€ but I think the full price is like 15€, which I (as a poor person) think is a bit steep for this kind of a game. For the price I payed however I think it offers the right bang for the back and provides an overall pleasant gaming experience as well as a good story.
