Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 1 and 2

Bioshock Infinite was one of the best games of 2013 and quite recently I gave it a second play trough and I have to say, it's still a great game. The Bioshock games have always been known for their beautiful art style and deep compelling story and if you're interested in delving even deeper into the the story and possibly have your mind blown you should definitely give the Bioshock Infinite DLC: Burial at Sea a try.

You now have a chance to get it at a 70% discount on the Playstation store too. They're having a 2K sale and you can get Bioshock Infinite for 15€ and both Burial at Sea episodes for just under 9€. Let me remind you that you should probably have played the original Bioshock too in order to follow the story and get the most out of Burial at Sea.

Burial at Sea - Episode 1

As the name suggest Burial at Sea takes place in Rapture, the underground city from the first two Bioshock games. However it takes place before the fall of Rapture and you can still witness the city in all it's glory. I won't go further in to the story at the risk of spoiling but what I can tell you is that you're playing as Booker DeWitt once again and together with Elizabeth you're out to rescue a little girl named Sally.

Except from the story and the fact that the city of Rapture looks better than ever, Burial at Sea-Episode 1 doesn't really bring anything new in terms of gameplay. However what it does is to very neatly tie the story together and build up to what's in store for Episode 2.

8.5/10

If you're like me and sometimes find it a bit hard to follow the story while you're simultaneously playing, below is a good video explaining the events of episode 1.

Burial at Sea - Episode 2

Okay, this is the part where the mind-blowing comes in to the picture. Episode 2 follows directly on the events of Episode 1 and I'm not going to give away too many spoilers but you're now playing as Elizabeth, which completely changes the way you're used to playing Bioshock. You now focus much more on stealth and much less on gun blazing. I thought this a was very refreshing and a fun way of playing. You use sleep darts, gas darts and have the ability to pick locks, see through walls etc. It reminded me much of the game Dishonored.

There are also a lot of revelations and answers to questions you might have been thinking about while playing Bioshock Infinite in Burial at Sea - Episode 2. The ending pretty much changes everything you thought you knew and ties the original game to Infinite in a mind blowing way. Burial at Sea is a quite essential game to play if you're a fan of the Bioshock series. I don't really know how it took me this long to play it but I'm very glad I did.

9.5/10

And if you had problems following the story of Episode 2 as well, I can recommend watching the video below for a quite extensive explanation.
