The Wolf Among Us Episode 1: Faith

I've just played Telltale Games newest game, The Wolf Among Us Episode 1: Faith. The Wolf  Among Us is an episodic graphic adventure in the same style as the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead where the gameplay is mostly character and story driven and where your choices have a real impact on the story. In The Wolf Among Us it doesn't just come up to WHAT you do but also WHEN you decide to do it.

So far only one episode has come out but I could not wait to just give a short review of what I think of the game so far.

The Wolf Among Us is based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic series where familiar characters from fairy tales and folklore have traveled to our world and now live in a community in New York called Fabletown. Among the characters are Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Prince Charming and the Beauty and the Beast. You play as the Big Bad Wolf aka. "Bigby" who also acts as the Sheriff of Fabletown.

This whole setting might seem a little odd at first but don't worry you'll get used to it. And even if the game features characters from children's books, this is NOT a game for children. It's very, dark, very brutal and very appealing :) It's a detective story with a murder mystery where you are in charge of solving it and where your mistakes can cost someone there life...

The game looks a lot like The Walking Dead but with slightly more color and with music that reminds me of the good old 80's. The dialog and the characters are spot on and the story quickly drags you in and makes you feel a lot of different emotions. (Telltale knows how to seriously mess with your emotions)

I'm not going to spoil anything for you but I can say that at the end of episode one you might be a little angry, sad, staring at the screen for half an hour soulcrushed. Still I can't wait for the next episode to get one step closer to catching the murdorous sonofabitch that's terrorizing Fabletown.

My rating so far 9/10
