Resident Evil: Revelations (PS3)

Even though the games in the Resident Evil series vary a lot in terms of quality they still have a certain appeal to them. Would Resident Evil Revelations had offered local co-op it would have been one of the best game entries in the series. Now, however, it is just an okay game with a pretty cool setting, a ghost ship.

Originally released on the 3DS, the Playstation 3 version is actually a HD remake with some updated graphics. The game looks okay for a last generation game, the controls are pretty much the same as in Resident Evil 6 where you can aim and walk at the same time. There is no run button though, which is kind of of annoying sometimes and don't even get me started on the dodge mechanic which is confusing as hell.

Aside from the clunky controls the game has a nice creepy atmosphere to it, at least the part on the ghost ship. You play several characters in the game including Claire and Chris Redfield. Some parts of the game are more focused on stealth and conserving ammo while in other parts you get to blast away bullets more freely. That brings well needed variation to the game.

A new updated version of the game for PS4 and Xbox One is on it's way so if you're a fan of Resident Evil I recommend you pick it up.

I was thinking of scoring games in other ways than giving them numbers from a scale from one to ten and some one said you should score them in how much they are worth in dollars/euros. From now on I'm going to use both scoring system and also write how much I paid for them.

7/10

For a HD remake of a 3DS game that is over 5 years old I paid 4,95 € which is an ok price. For an updated PS4 or Xbox version I would pay max 20 € for this game.

Fun fact: Part of the game is set in northern Finland at a place called Valkoinen Mökki Airport.
