Call of Duty: WWII (PS4)

Call of Duty: WWII single player campaign tries to be the Band of Brothers of video games, and in some ways it is. It does not however reach its full potential and relies too much on old formulas and high paced action sequences.

As far as COD campaigns go this is one of the more balanced. Although it has many over the top action sequences it also has a few stealthier missions. One mission stood out in particular, and it was the one where you infiltrate Nazi headquarters as a spy from the Resistance.

I liked that they at least tried adding something different in this game, even though they mostly played it safe when it comes to story and locations. It feels like you've already experienced it all before in movies like Saving Private Ryan or TV-series like Band of Brothers.

Visually the game looks good and it features some familiar faces and voices e.g. Josh Duhamel. I also  thought the theme song for the game was very good and fitting for this game. The ending of the game was a bit too convenient for my taste. But it fits very well the typical Hollywood “good” ending and I wasn’t really excepting that much more in the first place.

The game didn't exceed any of my expectations but it wasn't a total let down either. COD: WWII was part of the Playstation Plus free games in June 2020 so I didn't really "pay" anything for it and I would probably not buy the game only for the single player campaign.
