Inside (PS4)

I'm not a huge fan of indie games but sometimes it's fun to try out something different. Inside is undeniably a different game but still very approachable for both gamers and non-gamers. There is no steep learning curve or tutorials, just good old platforming and puzzle solving. The game actually doesn't tell you anything. You're just thrown into the game with no backstory and no dialog. Still, it manages to convey a powerful and emotional, albeit strange story that lingers in your mind even after you stopped playing.

Inside was developed by the Danish studio Playdead who also made the critically acclaimed Limbo game. It tells a story about a boy running from some totalitarian authority in a dark eerie world where something is terribly wrong. By running, jumping, swimming and puzzle-solving the player traverse through the world finding ever more horrifying secrets of what's really going on.

With a good atmosphere and story, Inside is a great indie game. The puzzles are inventive and quite fun to solve and the game itself is very polished. Although it's nice to support indie developers I wouldn't say that it's worth 20 euros but you should definitely get it if it's on sale though.

8/10
