The Walking Dead Game Season 2 Episode 1: All That Remains

First of all, I wasn't even going to review TWD season 2 based on individual episodes but since it might take a while before all the episodes are out, I'm gonna do it anyway. Because seriously, I can't wait to tell you what I think!

Telltale Games is on a real roll right now and is on their way on becoming one of the most respectful independent game developers in the world (At least in my opinion) Their game The Walking Dead became a huge success and now their game The Wolf Among Us has been praised by critics and also, the immensely awaited second season of TWD has now started. And as if that was enough Telltale is also working on a Game of Thrones game (yes, you heard me!) I'm not sure what I like about the idea because Game of Thrones basically has a set storyline from the books and I wonder how they are going to incorporate the choice mechanism in that game. Maybe they will focus on some other characters, a spin off of sorts I don't know, But I'm still confident they'll figure it out somehow.

It might seem Telltale got a little too much on their hands because there has been some delays and people are getting anxious about when the next episodes are coming out. So, the only negative thing I could say about Telltale is that they could be more specific about their release dates and delays. I still prefer to wait for a polished game instead of a rushed game that might ruined the whole experience.

(Possible Spoilers for anyone who haven't played the first season!)

But anyhow TWD season 2 is finally here and the first episode "All that remains" is out and it lives up to my expectations, possibly even exceeds them! Seriously, forget about that TWD TV-show, this is what you want, this is the real deal! This is much more realistic, much more engaging and you can actually better relate to these animated characters than to anyone in the TV series. Well but enough bashing on the TV show (I just cant watch it anymore) In TWD game season 2 you step in to the shoes of Clementine from the first season. And I'm really glad they went with this idea because Clementine was the character you cared for the most about in the first season. And even if playing a little girl might seem a little weird, it's actually perfect for this type of game. As I can imagine (and hope) there are not too many little girls playing this game and therefore it is a chance for pretty much anyone to put himself/herself in someone else shoes and see the world through someone else's eyes. (And realize that most people pretty much have the same wants and needs, when it comes down to it) Also people will treat you differently if you are a little girl, or will they? After all, it's a dangerous world out there and everyone is just thinking about their own survival.

So hopefully the first episode sets the tone for this season, and shows you that in a zombie filled apocalyptic world where everyone is just looking to survive even if you are just a little girl people will treat you anyway they like just to save their own skin. TWD will once again play with your emotions, immediately start questioning your decisions, constantly giving you some small hope and then taking it away. That's probably why Telltale games and Game of Thrones is going to be such a perfect match, George R. R. Martin and the writers at Telltale are both equally sadistic and brilliant and brings us some of the best storytelling experiences of our time.
