12 games, 12 short reviews

I've played a few games before I started this blog that I haven't reviewed here yet and I thought I would do a quick review on these games here.

Red Dead Redemption (2010)

Basically Grand theft auto in the wild wild west. Great story, great characters and fun gameplay. Also a very good atmosphere and you are drawn into the story and the game world. Like GTA there is a lot to do and explore. And if you buy the game don't forget to also get the dlc undead nightmare, it is definitely worth it.

9.5/10

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2011)

Cyberpunk first-person action stealth role-playing video game (but don't let that scare you). Dark and intriguing story and characters. Evolving choices and consequences. A lot of stealth.

8.5/10

Resistance 3 (2011)

Post apocalyptic first-person shooter with local co-op campaign. Which means you can play the whole campaign co-op with a friend. Did not care too much about the story but Resistance 3 has fun and good gameplay. Very intense at times but very entertaining. A lot of fun playing with a friend.

8/10

Dead Space (2008)

Survival horror third-person shooter set in deep space. It shares a lot of  resemblance to the movie Alien. Intense gameplay and very difficult at times. However switching through different weapons with limited ammo to defeat different kind of enemies is very rewarding once you learn it. Thrilling story and zero gravity gameplay is very nicely done.

8.5/10

Dead Space 2 (2011)

The sequel to Dead Space is equally good but not that different. Just a different setting and new enemies. But if you liked the first one you will like this one too.

8.5/10

Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009)

Every kid's dream come true. You get to play as Batman. Third-person action adventure video game where the gameplay is based on stealth and beat-em-up. A very well made game with excellent voice performances from especially Mark Hamill who voices the joker.

8.5/10

Batman: Arkham City (2011)

The sequel to Arkham Asylum is bigger but not necessarily better. There is more to do and you also play as Catwoman who possesses different kind of abilities than Batman and that is quite refreshing.

8/10

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (2009)

First-person shooter psychological horror game that is, if played with the lights off,  pretty scary. not a survival horror game as you have all the ammo you need. Not as good as for example Dead Space, F.E.A.R. 2 is a decent game but nothing special.

7/10

GTA IV (2009)

I've been a long time fan of the GTA series but GTA IV disappointed me a little bit. It's not that the missions were bad or that it didn't have a good story. That was all good. It just had to many annoying factors. Driving was good but walking and running was not. there were no mid mission save checkpoints and after driving 10-20 times the same trip just to get killed at the same spot over and over again kind of killed the mood. A lot of the game was just work and no play. I'm being a bit harsh but this was just my experience. Put aside the bad things and GTA IV is an ok game but compared to GTA V it does not come close.
7/10

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (2007)

The game that started the story of Nathan Drake the explorer and a series that have become one of my favorite game series ever. However the first game is not as good as the two that came later. It is good but not great, but for a fan of the series, worth playing. The story and the dialogue is superb but gameplay is not as good as in Among Thieves and Drake's Deception.
8/10

Dead Island (2011)

First-person action role-playing game set in an open world on a paradise island infested with zombies. Seems like a dream come true...well not exactly. Dead Island is a fun game but not great. I would like it to be more scary but mostly it's not. Melee combat is a bit difficult but feels very authentic when you think about it. Dead Island is not as good as Left 4 Dead but it's okay.
7.5/10

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (2013)

A stand-alone expansion to Far Cry 3 based on 1980´s action movies set in a futuristic open world. It's ridiculous, fun and it has got...well... laser-shooting dragons of course. Accompanied with a great soundtrack.
8.5/10
