Spider-Man 2 (PS5)

Double Trouble

Marvel’s Spider-Man was already one of the standout superhero games of the last decade, and Miles Morales kept the momentum going. So naturally, Spider-Man 2 swings in with both Peter and Miles sharing the spotlight. Because why settle for one friendly neighborhood Spider-Man when you can have two?

Spider-Man 2 is back in New York with a bigger story, tighter gameplay, and the bold choice to feature two fully playable Spider-Men. It doesn’t reinvent the formula, but it builds on it confidently and that’s exactly what makes it shine.

New York looks better than ever. The city feels vibrant and polished, the kind of place where you’ll occasionally stop mid-swing just to admire how good the lighting is. The production value is impressive from start to finish.

Peter Parker and Miles Morales each bring their own abilities, styles, and emotional arcs. Switching between them feels natural, and both characters have storylines worth following. Their dynamic is one of the game’s strongest points, adding warmth, humor, and a bit of that trademark Spider-Man chaos.Mary Jane’s stealth sections also return. They’re brief, but they do add a bit of variety.

With Venom and Kraven making their grand entrances, things escalate quickly. The story feels richer and more impactful than previous entries, balancing big superhero moments with personal stakes. It's not just a superhero tale. It’s one about friendship, responsibility, and identity.

Traversal is still fantastic, and web-slinging feels as smooth and satisfying as ever. Combat remains fast-paced and fun, with new abilities that add variety without overwhelming the player. It strikes a good balance between familiar and fresh.

Of course, like all open-world games, there’s a bit of filler here and there, but not nearly enough to weigh the experience down. The pacing stays strong throughout most of the game.

Spider-Man 2 might not break the mold, but it certainly polishes it. It improves on almost every aspect of its predecessors and delivers a heartfelt, high-energy superhero adventure that’s hard to put down.
