Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5) - Review
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Bigger, Bolder, and Still Fun to Explore
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picks up five years after Fallen Order, and it’s clear right away that this is a bigger, more confident sequel. The mechanics are improved across the board, and Cal Kestis feels more like a proper Jedi Knight this time around—not just someone on the run.
Traversal is a major highlight. The platforming and movement are smooth, exciting, and much more dynamic than in the first game. Whether you're running along walls, grappling across gaps, or chaining together jumps and force powers, it just feels good to move around the world.
That said, I’m not a huge fan of how often enemies respawn or how much backtracking there is. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it can be annoying when you're just trying to get from point A to point B. Some of the boss fights were also a bit much for me—I had to lower the difficulty because I was getting too frustrated. I'm more of a casual player, and I don’t really enjoy spending hours stuck on a single boss.
But the atmosphere? Fantastic. Just like Star Wars Outlaws, this game has that grounded, non-pretentious mood that really works. It doesn’t try too hard to be overly dramatic or edgy—it’s just a solid Star Wars adventure with good pacing and a fun tone.
The characters are another big plus. Cal, BD-1, Merrin, and the rest of the crew have great chemistry, and I genuinely enjoyed the banter and interactions. It’s a good mix of lighthearted and emotional, and it helps make the story feel more personal.
Exploring the different planets is still one of the best parts of the game. There’s a lot to see, plenty of secrets to find, and some cool environmental storytelling tucked into the corners of the world.
